Celebrate your faith through archery!
How does archery fit into your understanding of your
faith? There are six lessons in the ArrowFaith
program. These lessons are given during the course
of the archery classes, and also as part of your reading
and discussing the accompanying scriptural passages.
Writing in your personal journal will help you explore
these traits in you as they grow.
Responsibility
You
tell me, "Watch out! Those evil people have put
their arrows on their bows and they are standing in the
shadows."
Psalm 11:1-3
Learning about safety rules.
Why must an archer be responsible?
As Christians, are we held to a high level of
responsibility?
Archery Lesson: Learned and followed safety rules,
learned shot sequence, learned how to safely pull
arrows.
Mindfulness
Be
still and know that I am God.
Psalms 46:10
Noticing how our minds work.
In archery, being
still helps us pay attention to the current step.
Being with God creates that stillness.
Archery Lesson: Shot at blank bales, shot at target
faces.
Presence
Blessed or they whose inquiries are forgiven, and whose
sins
are covered.
Romans 4:7
Keeping your attention
focused on the Present.
What happens to your focus if you start
thinking of the past or future? When your sins are
forgiven, you no longer need dwell
in the past.
Archery Lesson: Learned how to score a target and
tally a scorecard.
Perseverance
Trust in the LORD
with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all ways acknowledge him, and he
shall direct they paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Instruction will only carry
you so far. In your Christian and archery
learning, the lessons taught by your teacher will only
go so far...the rest is up to you.
Archery Lesson: Learned how to keep score, and
mastered "One
Next Thing."
Grace
For I say, through the
grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not
to think of himself more highly that he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God dealt to every
man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3
Coping with winning and
losing. Learn how to treat others
well, regardless of how you are feeling.
Archery Lesson: Learned to use archery etiquette,
competed in
a tournament.
Gratitude
& Joy
In everything give
thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Giving thanks for all
things. The personal traits you
learn as an archer and a Christian will carry you
through life.
Archery Lesson: Finished all of the sessions and
earned the ArrowFaith achievement pin.
